The RRP Huxley was my first 3D printer, bought in early 2014. I eventually upgraded the Huxley to a dual nozzle setup of my own design.

The RepRapPro Huxley was my first printer, bought as a kit in early 2014, it was one of the cheapest printers available at the time. It served me well in it's stock form, with the usual issues of a printer of the time, primarily the Kapton tape bed surface which caused failed prints due to adhesion difficulties; in the end, I was running it lightly sanded and thoroughly scrubbed with acetone and had reasonable success.

I eventually upgraded the Huxley to a dual nozzle setup of my own design, fitting a second, identical hot end to a custom machined heat break block. The mounting parts were re-modelled from the original Solidworks files to fit, and printed in ABS. The "Wade's style" extruder was duplicated, and hung from the chassis, as a mirror to the original. The extra motor and heater requirements meant replacing the Melzi control board with a ubiquitous RAMPS 1.4.

I learned a lot about firmware by modifying Marlin to suit my setup. Many test prints were required to get the location of the two nozzles mapped, and much fiddling needed to get them level. I printed a few items in two colours before the novelty wore out. I was getting so many issues with the printer, even when only running one extruder, that I fell out of love with 3D Printing for a while.

In 2016 I watched Thomas Sanladerer build and review the new Original Prusa i3 MK2. I ordered one and received mine in late 2016.
